Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey, David, Mary and Sophie Elizabeth!
This morning, we had to return to the adoption office to be interviewed by an official & to sign the adoption decree. At that point we were official parents. Found out that last night, she technically was still in the custody of the orphanage. Then, off to another office to have a birth certificate prepared for her. And then off to the passport office to have her photo taken. She was asleep by then & they really tried to wake her up for her photo, but she was dead to the world. So, her passport photo is of her sleeping.
Everywhere we go, Sophie is the center of attraction. All the Chinese women, old & young alike, come up to talk to Sophie & ask us questions & tell us how beautiful she is. She's definitely the star.
She has a cold & started coughing today. The only way we got her to sleep last night was to give her some nighttime cold & cough medication. She's restless even when she sleeps. Every so often, she cries for a second, moves around, & then falls right back asleep. David & I don't get much sleep since we wake up every time she yells out.
Good thing that first rough/sleepless night is behind us & we can get back to our normal sleeping routine, huh?

PS -- We received back the 2 disposable cameras that we had sent to Sophie's foster mom. Can't wait to have those developed when we return home. And, we even got the panda bear back that we had sent to Sophie. So at least, she has one toy with her that's familiar to her.
