Today we hung out in the hotel room, some napping more than others (Mary due to a case of Montezuma's revenge), as Nelson, our guide took our paperwork to the U.S. Consulate with about 15 documents in duplicate, triplicate, etc. for her immigrant visa.
Later, we went on a shopping spree, once again. I'll just say that Sophie will be styling and dressed up, so Mom and Dad need to get busy arranging her social calendar. We have shopped so much; salespeople are now giving Sophie free things. We got our stroller rental for free. Today she received a very nice red thread bracelet with jade beads.
On the home front, Patty, our niece, found us a potential rental house down the street from them in KC.
We visited the Swan Room, the kid's playroom in the hotel which is sponsored by Mattel, but no one was there. It's amazing because there must be a thousand kids of varying ages staying here. It was just as well that it was empty. I'm not sure little Sophie has mastered the sharing technique just yet. She must have each hand full and when I tried to pick up one of her toys, she dropped one from her hand to reach out for mine.
After 9 days we have learned another parenting trick -- feed her while she's in the baby bed. That way, she falls to sleep without being interrupted because she really hates having her sleep interrupted.
Tomorrow is a big day. She officially becomes a U.S. citizen so stay tuned for special pictures.

P.S. David has taught Sophie another skill -- winking! Actually, what she does is shut both eyes, & then she opens just one back up. It's hilarious. Although, I'm sure she'll never do it on cue in front of anyone else so no one will ever believe us. Note to Debbie: We haven't taught her to say "notebook" yet. Thought we'd leave that up to you!
