Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
David, Mary and Sophie Elizabeth!
Today we took a tour of a Pagoda.  The original structure was built by the Emperor’s brother, the local governor, 1300 years ago.  Unfortunately, centuries of warfare destroyed the original structure and the current one was rebuilt in the 1980s.  I guess it's the thought that counts, huh.

The Pagoda was beautiful.  Once we reached the top, we witnessed two local dances.  The women and the costumes were gorgeous.

What wasn't so great is that we walked from the hotel to the Pagoda and I think today was the highest percentage of humidity ever recorded, ever, anywhere. I look better after a 5 mile run.  However, Sophie, she just had a blast. She was laughing and playing and talking to herself throughout.  Again, everyone had to stop and talk to her. At one point I think there were 15 people around us all wanting to touch her or talk to her.  She is just so outgoing and precocious.  She is going to be a heartbreaker, that is for sure.

During our outing, we purchased two decorative fans and a very small parasol in Sophie's pink color scheme.  We also purchased a tea set for her.  We will give it to her one day. Perhaps when she is married and has children, or grandchildren.  Just kidding.

Since this is the last chance to purchase things for her in her own province, we decided to get many things. We hope to get a very lovely vase on sale in the hotel shop tomorrow.
