Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
Don, Karen and Samantha!

May 22, 2007
Today I awoke with whatever Samantha had. Dur our facilitator was quick to give the ancient Chinese remedy.  It was some bad tasting powder that you mix in hot water and drink.  I would rather just drink tea.  I tried it but could only take a couple of sips.  I started on antibiotics instead because of the color of things draining out of my head.  I feel like I have the flu and I have lost my voice.  Maybe that is a good thing?  If Sam felt like this, then I know why she was so miserable.  I’ll just chalk this one to building up my immunity.

The day started off with pouring rain but it stopped before everyone was done with breakfast.  Today I can say without a doubt that the humidity was 100%.  At least now, everyone has hair like me.  Don would take Sam out for a walk to give me time to nap and when they came back both were soaked.  There doesn’t seem to be a problem here with mosquitoes, and it is a tropical climate.  Actually, I haven’t seen many bugs at all.  I guess they must keep them well controlled.

Don and Samantha went to the Guangzhou Zoo this afternoon with most of the group.  I stayed behind because I didn’t want people thinking I was contagious and trying to infect them.  Don said that it was nice but older looking.  Sam appeared to enjoy it and was able to stay awake for the whole tour. Thank goodness that the rain held off so everyone didn’t have to carry umbrellas.

Samantha really likes eating out.  She can not seem to get enough to eat.  That girl can eat twice as much as me and not be bothered with heartburn.  Just when you think she is finally full, she finds room to put even more.  I may need a second job to feed her.
I think everyone here is getting stir crazy.  We can not wait to get home.  We only have the swearing left at the consulate on Thursday then we bus it back to Hong Kong.  We catch our plane for Newark on Friday morning.  It can’t come fast enough for us.
