Today started off with rain. It rains a lot here and all of the locals must have umbrellas stashed everywhere. I never see anyone carrying one, but as soon as it starts the umbrellas come out of nowhere. I think Hong Kong got 8 inches of rain yesterday, yikes.
Samantha seems to be progressing. We have seen her being very pleasant and have seen her at her worst. It has been extremely hard watching her personality change so frequently. I realize she has gone through so much but there doesn’t seem like much I can do for her.
We ventured out this morning to take on some shopping. We were able to get a few things. There is so much to see here and I don’t think we will even scratch the surface. All of the shops want you to come in to see what they have.
Sam’s physical exam was this afternoon. We walked to the clinic and went straight back. There were three rooms, weight and height, hearing and sight and a very quick exam. I don’t think they want to find anything. I actually don’t think I would even pay money for that exam in the U.S. But we did get a rough weight on Sam. The scale said 16.2 pounds, fully clothed. I am pretty sure she was the smallest in the group, but she is the most vocal.
We all went to a popular eating place called Lucy’s, they serve American style food, pizza, quesadillas and burgers if you are daring enough. I stuck to a simple sandwich and a coke. I am not risk taker this late in my life. We could have sat outside to eat but the humidity here has to be close to 90%. Breathing here can break you into a sweat. Thank goodness for Chinese laundry, it’s cheap and quick.
