Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
Don, Karen and Samantha!

...and Feathered Family Members, Sydney, Gracie, George and Inez!
May 18, 2007
Today there was nothing planned for our group to do, thank goodness.  We are using today as a day of rest for the three of us. Samantha’s temperature was up again to 103.2.  So we are pumping in the Tylenol, antibiotics and herbal remedy.  She is really miserable and her nose is sore from me always wiping it.  (I have this thing about snotty noses).  She has a lot of mucous coming out of that nose of hers and her eyes.  I can believe that that little body can make so much stuff.

Don had to meet our facilitator today at 2:00 pm to finish paperwork. He was gone for about 2 hours and he looked like he just got run over by a truck after that meeting.  I am glad he went, I already feel like I got hit by a truck.  The beds here are plywood covered with a sheet.  Both of our backs are pretty sore.  I like a firm mattress but this maybe a tad too firm for me.

There is little air conditioning here either.  The temperature hasn’t been that hot, but the humidity has been around 90%.  Those of you that know me must have a funny picture in your heads of what my hair must look like, and your imaginations are probably right.  There isn’t enough hair product in the world to hold this mop down.

We took a walk down to the local Walmart with another family.  It was about three blocks down and across the street. The hardest part was crossing the street.  We were lucky and made it unscathed.  With the over crowding here, the Walmart here goes up not out.  There were seven floors to this one.  It is pretty much like ours but everything is in Chinese, and there was a lot of interesting seafood and dead chickens around, cooked and uncooked.  Ick.  The other thing we have notice were the number of Kentucky Fried Chickens around.  There were three within the same block.  I just can’t seem to bring myself to eat chicken here.  I think I am sticking to noodles and coke.

Tomorrow we are going to Guangzhou via airplane.  Not really looking forward to that part but I will do anything right now to get closer to home.  Hope the beds are softer.
Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and comments.  It sure lifts the spirits.
