Well, today’s journal will be short. Samantha has not been feeling well and today she seems more congested and her fever is a bit higher. We were able to get down to the buffet for breakfast and we went to the local store to pick up some little things. Otherwise we spent the day in our room trying to keep her fever down and keep her entertained. We have got the Motrin and Tylenol schedule down to a fine science. Don is like a drill sergeant tapping his watch when its time for the next dose. It’s like he has us both trained to know what that means.
The weather here is also quite overcast. We haven’t gotten much rain but it is hard to tell if it is just cloudy or if the pollution is just that high. I noticed when we were out that my eyes burned and my throat seemed irritated. Everyone in our group seems to believe it’s from the pollution. Most of the local population here smokes and there are millions of cars and mopeds. I also have read that their main source of energy is from coal. So I guess that is the reason for the looming haze. It maybe that Nanchang is reminiscent of the old days in Pittsburgh. I personally think it is probably worse.
Sorry for the short post but I have sent some pictures of some local sites.
