| The subject of international adoption was first discussed in February 2000. At that time Caden had not entered our family and we had decided we wanted another child. International adoption felt like the right choice for us and we began researching different agencies and country programs on the internet. We quickly were drawn to the china program and began to determine how we could make this dream a reality. God had different plans for us however. A mere three days after we first decided adoption would be in our future, we were given the gift of our yet to be born son, Caden.
We learned his biological mother was making plans to place him for adoption. When she learned we were wanting to adopt, she asked us if we would provide a forever home for her unborn child. Three months later Caden was born and our focus turned to raising our four children. |
| Over the next 5 years the subject of adopting from China resurfaced now and again but the timing just never seemed right. Steve got deployed to Bosnia with the National Guard for 11 months. After returning from Bosnia, we again began to discuss the possibility of adding a new member to our family. In May 2005 we made the decision to begin the process of bringing our daughter home from China. We had talked with friends who had adopted from China and learned of an agency, Hand in Hand, that has an office here in Indiana. We met with the director and our paperchase began.
