Need your journey designed/hosted??
Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
David, Carol, Joshua, Matthew, Daniel, Anna, Hope and Joy!
Today was a really great day. We went to the zoo which was both fun and interesting. I think the most interesting part was the cages with the dogs. Also, there was an area where you could pay extra to get your picture taken with various animals, including a dalmation. Anna did have her picture taken with a chimpanzee that gave her a kiss right on the lips – YUK!!! Then David had his picture taken with a baboon. Don’t know why he wanted to do this but I thought you might enjoy the picture.

Joy loved the zoo and we loved watching her enjoy it. It is so fun to see a child’s world open up and the excitement that comes with it. Some of the animals she didn’t want to get so close to the cage and others didn’t seem to bother her. She definitely didn’t want to pet the chimp that kissed Anna and would get very hesitant if I got too close to some of the louder animals. She loved feeding the fish the most, but also loved our trip to McDonalds afterward. Now McD’s is not on our list of restaurants we usually eat at because David is with Chick-Fil-A. And to make matters worse I ordered her chicken nuggets. But David turned the other way and let his new daughter enjoy this new found treasure (ssshh – I will take her when we get back home).

We are scheduled to visit her orphanage tomorrow because there was a conflict with her main caregiver for Thursday and we wanted Joy to be able to see her. And yes that means we have decided to take her. This was a hard decision and we have read things supporting both sides. But we do feel like her attachment to us is strong enough at this point and that it will be good for her to go and show us where she lived. We have some gifts for her to give to the caregivers and to the children and hope this will be special for her. Please pray for Joy as this could be a very difficult time but it is our hope that it will be good for her.

Enjoy the pictures.

Love, The Oakes
