Today is April 6th, and Phoebe Li is now 11 months old! She wore a pretty Spring dress and even kept her shoes on for our outing to the Chinese garden. It was a gorgeous day as we walked and toured this beautiful garden at the base of the Baiyun Mountain. There was a rose garden with many varieties, and so fragrant. There were many older Chinese people relaxing near waterfalls or going for a stroll. They all smiled at Phoebe Li and came up to say hello. Of course they were having full conversations with us in Chinese, but all we can do is smile back. Seems strange for me to visit a country and with no command of the language at all. Of course we know how to say hello and thank you...we do alot of that. And I did understand "pooyao" (?sp), which means No...an elderly man was telling us not to allow Phoebe Li to put her fingers in her mouth. Phoebe Li took a special liking to the gardener, and she even let her hold her...I think she was fascinated with the woman's big hat. And she just loves being outside.

Phoebe Li has been busy, busy crawling and standing and walking a bit while holding our hands. She has been more giggly each day and today was falling over backwards onto a pillow to have a good laugh at herself. And then she rolled back to front across the carpet...she also chased the maid down the hall crawling after the vacuum cleaner.

That smile just makes us melt every time, with barely two teeth poking through and mostly gums.

News from home: Memere tells us that Phoebe Li's photo is in the latest quarterly journal WISE TRADITIONS from The Weston A. Price Foundation. She is featured in the "healthy baby" section after I had mentioned to WAPF President Sally Fallon that the orphanage fed her traditional foods including cod liver oil and egg yolks. And she sure is healthy! Tomorrow is our Consulate/Visa appointment.

Love and Giggles from Guangzhou,
Jackie and Dan and Phoebe Li
