Phoebe Li slept from 8pm until 6am. She awoke happy and smiling...and with bad hair just like me!
She seems to like us.
She has a lot of energy and is very curious. She's constantly waving an arm, or kicking her leg, even when eating.
She also likes to grab a huge handful of my hair as close to the scalp as possible to keep her balance.
:-)
This morning the group took a bus to the Civil Affairs office once again to "make it official". We signed the required paperwork and Phoebe Li is officially ours today. It took several hours, as we had to do two interviews and also take a family photo for their file.
Afterward we took a shopping trip to the 3 story grocery store to buy formula, diapers, etc. The Chinese people are extremely gracious and nice to us, and come up to say hello to the baby. They have a name for us Westerners here in China. They call us "big noses"...our Chinese guide Grace told us this. And when I look at Phoebe Li's profile against my own it's undeniable.
Dan keeps Phoebe Li entertained...she looks at him, he makes a face, and she giggles and screeches! Though when she's tired she has to have me. As soon as I hold her she stops crying right away and clutches me tight around the neck. But then she has to keep an eye on Dan to be sure he's there too.
She's so very sweet...and busy busy all the time.
She does have a little cough and cold, but we feel like she is very healthy and strong in her petite little body.
We are in amazement that she has adjusted to us so well, as it has only been a short 24 hours since we came together.
Tomorrow is her medical exam, and then passport appointment.
Tonight we'll sample some local Cantonese cuisine with our guide, and she promised a prize to the most daring among us, as the Cantonese people "eat everything with four legs except the table".
