We made a whirlwind tour of Beijing on Saturday, running on sheer exhaustion and excitement combined.
Our guide gave us a walking tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. A giant portrait of Chairman Mao overlooks the square and the masses of humanity. The crowds were huge and mostly Chinese...and at times we were forced to hold onto each other's clothing so we would not get swept away from our group.
Next we made our way to the Great Wall of China, where Dan climbed the very steep ancient stairs to the first tower. Quite a workout.
I'm saving my energy.
:-)
It's a bit surreal going around as tourists, as all we can think of is our Phoebe Li!
