It's raining today in Guangzhou. We awoke several times during the night with a terrific wind and rain storm that felt as if the hotel was shaking. I was happy the drapes were closed, as I feared the windows would blow out. The wind was really howling.
So we cancelled our planned outing to the Chinese Gardens this morning and instead visited a museum built over an ancient tomb dated 100 B.C. The person ensrouded in the tomb was a wealthy person with several concubines buried in rooms around him. He was buried in a Jade suit from head to toe.
We are all pretty exhausted today, so off to bed soon, as it has been an overwhelming and hectic few days to say the least! This afternoon we took a walk around the island...our hotel is located on Shamian Island in Guangzhou.
Phoebe Li had a great time getting some fresh air in her stroller and waving at the people.
I don't think she had much, if any, outdoor time at the orphanage...but she seems to love being outside. I imagine her senses are just overloaded.
Every day she does something new, and seems to giggle more from one hour to the next with that full-on gum smile (though she does have two front teeth peaking through!). She's a blast.
With love from China,
Jackie and Dan and Phoebe Li
