We have finally made it to China! (Only 28 hours after starting). The flight from Newark to Beijing is VERY LONG! I maybe slept a few minutes the whole flight. Fonda slept for a few hours. The Beijing
airport was a crazy experience. For the record, when flying into Beijing please pickup your bags then proceed to Customs and re-check your bags onto your domestic flight. We made 20 minutes walk to the terminal gate for China Southern without our bags and had to turn around and make our way back through Customs and retrieve our bags. It is a good thing we had a 4 hour layover.
We meet one of the other families in our travel group, the Velez’s. We meet them while waiting for our flight in Newark. It was good to have another family to travel with. They got the same misinformation
about the bags.
We got in very late to Guangzhou and got checked into our hotel. The White Swan Hotel is beautiful. It is very western and has a lot of adopting families. I think we are really going to enjoy our stay here. Now we just have to get our rest. Tomorrow is a free day and we plan on relaxing and getting to know the area.
