Our first day here in Guangzhou was a hot and steamy 95+ degree / 90+ % humidity. What a change from the last couple of days in Chongqing. The White Swan Hotel being right on the Pearl River is a plus as there is a pretty constant breeze to alleviate the heat. It’s a really nice hotel. Meili loves the swimming pool – she is a regular little mermaid!!
This morning we met the local guide at 8:30am and got Meili’s U.S. visa photos taken and her visa physical exam completed. Now all that is left to do is submit the visa application, and the visa fee, to the U.S. Consulate tomorrow at 10:00am, get the visa and take this little cutie home!!
Well, we went to the wholesale pearl market here in Guangzhou this afternoon and – David was right – it was an expensive little side trip!! But what a place – 6 floors of more pearls of every shape, size, and color than you could ever imagine. We were there for 2 hours and never got past the first floor. Some really great stuff there though.
Tomorrow, except for the visa appointment at 10:00am is an “off” day. No planned activities. The group is going on a Pearl River Dinner Cruise tomorrow evening. Meili should be a big hit in her new Chinese party dress. Pictures tomorrow!!
Until tomorrow,
