Hi everyone, it's hard to believe that we have been a family of four now for over a month and that we have been home from China for 3 weeks! Madelyn is fitting in with our family just great! She has bonded with us, grandparents, close friends and church friends so quickly and even stayed in the nursery today at church, WOW! When we received our referral for Madelyn in April we asked God for His guidance and prayed Madelyn would bond with us and we were blown away at how God answered those prayers! She likes to hug and give kisses for both emotional bonding and when she wants something, haha. She throws three year old temper tantrums and cries when she does not get her way. She fights with her older brother and likes to chase Ranger (our Schnauzer). She fits in like she was born right into this family and we are amazed at how much English she has learned already! Even when we cannot understand her she does not get upset but rather tries to "show" us what she needs!
Joshua is doing rather well for having a three year old sister just pop into his life. He has admitted it's hard to share mom and dad sometimes and that Madelyn has changed his life. I caught him in her room during nap time the other day reading her a book. I had to wipe back tears because I was so proud of him. He is one great big brother and although they have their "sibling" moments they are two very wonderful children and we are very blessed to have them!
Our adoption process over the past two years has been ups and downs, tears of joy and of pain, there have been many trials, many temptations to just give up but most of all many friends and family standing by us with prayer and other support that we could not have made it though without! We have learned patience, endurance, humility and what it means to be blessed beyond our dreams!
Thank you for sharing in this adoption journey with us and for being our support. We hope you have enjoyed reading our journal. School starts on August 20th, Jennifer goes back to work from maternity leave and we seem to get more settled each day with our lives as a family of 4.
