Hello everyone! We made it home, a day later than we expected but at any rate we are home and getting used to life as a family of 4! Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and e-mails while we were in China. The airline would not let us board the plane from Hong Kong to Chicago on Friday night because our luggage did not have time to change planes so as we watched our plane take off without us, I began to fall apart. My family was at home anxiously waiting for us to arrive and some little silly thing was going to cause us not to be there. We begged and pleaded (three families) to allow us to take another flight or do something for us and they refused.
After 7 hours of waiting for United airlines to do absolutely nothing, three families were stranded at Hong Kong airport with no clean clothes, no formula or diapers (for the other families) and No answer as to when we would arrive home. The next days flights were full so we were on stand by!
I refused to let this happen and therefore took matters into my own hands and took over! I ended up paying for three flights to LA, then to Dallas and finally to arrive in St. Louis on Saturday morning. I called Matt crying and told him I was going to max out our credit card to get home and he said, "Go for it"!! At that point all I wanted was to get home and I prayed very hard for God to allow this and He did!
Things did not work out as we had planned during the entire trip and it ended up costing us more than we ever imaged but we see it as another challenge, another test and we passed! We are all home together right now, Maddie is napping in her room that she loves, Joshua is having fun with his new sister and has only tattled on her once....haha! Madelyn has taken to Matt very quickly and has become "daddy's girl". She and Joshua played in his bedroom this morning under covers and pillows for hours. I peaked in on them a few times and have to admit, tears came streaming and I imagined this day for over two years now!
As I sit and think about our time in China, I realize that without mountains to climb we would always be weak without strength to get us through. Life is not always perfect, each day proves to be a different journey and I can honestly say that even after all we have been through, I would do it again to get where we are today! Our little China doll has fit in perfectly with our family; she loves attention and loves all the neighbors as well, haha!
She has met many friends and family in her short time here and has shown them all that she was meant to be with the Wrights.......she was chosen by God to be a part of our family and has proved to everyone that is true!
I have already been asked if we would do this again...................ask me in about a year :)
Sending prayers out to all in our travel group #125, our journey together will be one I never forget and I pray more than ever that you all are doing well too! To the Potters and the other family stranded at Hong Kong along with us: May you adjust quickly with your new precious additions and thanks for being apart of our journey to Madelyn even though we encountered more than we bargained for!
With love to all, the Wright's
