HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY JOSHUA! I know that we all so wanted to be home for your birthday but mommy, Madelyn and nana will see you tomorrow night! I miss you and love you so much!
As I type these final words from China, although it seems like these past 12 days have been the longest in my life, I also look back and see how much I appreciate what God has allowed my family to do. There is no doubt we have had some tough times these past two weeks but I will be bringing home a precious little miracle that God so perfectly placed in our family and she was worth every second of this trip.
This trip we have battled intense heat, sleep deprivation, language challenges, food we are not used to and of course missing paperwork that caused me to wake Matt in the middle of the night to fax something to me asap........but all in all everything has worked out and at 3:00 pm today we leave for the US Consulate to take our oath to care for Madelyn. The paperwork has all been done and approved and after this one last step in a few hours we are ready to come home.
Lots of tears have been shed over the past 27 months and the battles we have faced were nothing short of horrible at some times. But I know that so soon I will be meeting my family at the airport and visioning this site keeps me strong and going fast forward.
I know that so many of you have been praying for us and believe me those prayers have been felt, without them I wonder how we would have done this journey! I ask for one final prayer in that Madelyn would sleep on the long plane ride home tomorrow. We leave Guangzhou at 2:30pm, then Hong Kong at 5:30pm and arrive in Chicago around 6:30pm then we land in St. Louis at 11:30pm on Friday night. The flight from Hong Kong to Chicago is about 13 hours long, this will be at bedtime so with all my heart I pray Madelyn sleeps a long time! We loose 13 hours in the time change so I know this will be one of our biggest challenges yet when we get home! Please pray for our safety as well. Again, your thoughts and prayers have been the most important thing to us over the past two years and two weeks especially.....no words I type could explain our thanks for that!
As I say good night from China one last time, thank you for following our journey to Madelyn and my next post will be from Illinois!
