Gotcha Day!
It’s hard to believe that it has finally happened. Today, we met our daughter and she’s absolutely perfect. We flew to Nanchang this morning and arrived early afternoon. We checked into the hotel and drove to the Civil Affairs Office. When we walked in, the babies were there. There were 12 couples including us and one single parent adopting children. There were very few dry eyes in the room.

Roy spotted Lilyanne first. She was being held by one of her nannies and she was not a happy camper. The names of the babies and the families were called out one at a time. Finally, our name was called. Lilyanne spent the first ten minutes crying her little eyes out. Her little lips would start to quiver and she would let loose. About fifteen minutes after having her placed in my arms she fell asleep on my shoulder. We took her back to the hotel. I laid her down on the bed and she slept for a few minutes.

We decided not to push it with the bath tonight. She’s had enough changes for one day. After she woke up I did change her clothes and her diaper. We were able to keep the clothes she was wearing when we received her. She was bundled up in several layers.

Tonight, we took her downstairs in order to fill out paperwork. The orphanage director was there. He made her laugh but when he reached for her, she turned her head and put her arms around my neck and buried her head in my shoulder. He was very pleased, as was I. She's really doing great.

We will post more later. As you might understand, we are a little preoccupied right now with this little sweetie. I'm going to go watch her sleep for a while!
