September 24 --
The day has FINALLY arrived. We head to China TODAY! We're still trying to figure out how we're going to fit all this stuff we have to bring. Can you believe that we had 18 months to think about this and here we are cramming formula, baby clothes, diapers and medication for any possible scenario into every crevice of our overstuffed suitcases? Of course you can. Hey, we made room for the walkman, though...whew!
We're flying Continental this afternoon with a group of ten families...a really nice group of people. It's a sixteen hour flight into Hong Kong. There's a one hour layover (fingers crossed) and then we fly about 45 minutes into Guangzhou (gwan-joe), mainland China. We'll spend a short night, about 5 hours, there and then an early wake-up call at 4:30. We'll board a plane bound for the city of Nanchang in the Jiangxi Province. Jiangxi is a homey little province with a population of thirty six million people. Lilyanne is from a small town called "Chongren" about an hour and a half from Nanchang. She'll be brought with the other babies by bus to meet us in Nanchang.
We'll be arriving in Nanchang about noon Monday (China time is twelve hours ahead) and will have to do some adoption paperwork when we arrive. We'll get a couple of hours break (time to pace and watch the clock) and then we get on a bus that'll take us to the civil affairs office to unite with Lilyanne. The time can not go fast enough! We'll try to update everyone as soon as possible once we have her.
Alright, have to finish packing and get out the door to the airport. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. |
