It was the neatest thing! Last night (early morning for them), I got
to talk to my kindergarten class over the computer using Skype! It was
great getting to talk to all of them and all of them asking questions!
Technology is so amazing!
Today didn't start out so well. Kassidy woke up with a 103 degree temp.! We were very worried about her and how we would handle this so far away from home in a foreign country! Amy, our guide, told Joe where to take her to see a Western(Chinese-American) doctor. Joe took Kassidy in a taxi to a doctor, who was very sweet. They all made over Kassidy! They told her she had strep throat (again!) and gave her a shot! They were very concerned! The doctor told her that she would be feeling better and could be around Klaire tomorrow! Kassidy has been very bummed that she can not play with Klaire but she is so excited that she can tomorrow! Thank you all for the prayers on Kassidy's behalf- God has answered!
While Joe and Kassidy went to the doctor- Karlee, Klaire and I went to a beautiful garden with the rest of our group. It was extremely hot and humid! I have NEVER felt humidity like it is here! We were all
dripping in sweat! The gardens were beautiful with lots of shrubs
shaped as animals. Klaire was wonderful the whole trip! She laughed and smiled all day for us! While we were at the gardens, several older Chinese women came up to Cristie and I with our babies. They were all speaking in Chinese, but did not look real happy with us- kinda suspicious. They seemed to be questioning why American women would have Chinese babies. I happened to have my card that AWAA gave us to explain why we were here and that we love China and we are adopting Klaire and will love her and keep her forever. I showed them that card and they all read it together and smiled and kissed the girls and were very happy with that! All the women then went to the other families in the same area and patted them and in Chinese told us thank you- at least that is what I think they said! ha! They seemed to be very happy with us after they knew what was going on. Thank goodness I had that card with us!
After we left the gardens, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch! It tasted just like home! It was great! The only thing a little different was they served soup with their personal pan pizzas! Strange, but good! Oh by the way- on the way to the Pizza Hut- our bus rear ended a van! They really do drive crazy here! ha! The rules of the road are just suggestions here- that is even what our guide tell us!
The rest of the afternoon was free, so we put Klaire down for a nap and took one ourselves while the girls worked on their homework. This evening- the Martine's and the Foote's came to our room for supper. After supper, Cristie, Cindy and I all went down for full body massages! Here at the hotel you can get a full body massage for $15! When I got back to the room, Joe was outside with Klaire. She had been crying saying "ma" for the past 30 min. As soon as I took her, she went right off to sleep. She was used to only women in her orphanage and there happened to be no women in our room, because both girls had went to bed. She loves Joe, but she didn't want to go to sleep for him with no woman around.
Klaire is eating better! She actually ate a half a jar of green beans and about 1/3 jar of pears tonight for supper! It is amazing to see how much she is changing in so little time! She is just a blessing from God!
Thanks again for all your prayers! We can definitely feel them half way around the world! Tomorrow is a free day- so guess what we are doing- shopping! YEAH!!!
Good night from Guangzhou- flower capital of China!
Love,
Joe, Julie, Karlee, Kassidy and Klaire
