-An Ancient Chinese Belief
Katie walked up to me and quietly said "zo ba", and proceeded to get her sandals on. I recognized this as "lets go", so her and I went for a short walk alone around the hotel property....and she was o.k. without mom or Sean!! We are making progress.

At a last minute visit to Walmart for some beverages, we met a contrast of Chinese people; a cute worker trying to talk with me, asking "do you hear Chinese?"...why yes I have all week (but I think she meant do I speak Chinese), and a cashier trying to convince me the 100 yuan bill I gave him was only 1 yuan (nice try, but I'm not that naive).

The surrounding buildings at night are illuminated until 10:30, and look very cool. We spent the late evening packing for the short flight to Guangzhou in the morning.

The flight went great, Katie had no issues at all, taking comfort in clutching her new photo album from her friend Emalie the entire flight. On the way to the hotel we stopped for her medical appointment...which went just fine (we were given a prescription for her cough). The room is identical to the room we had for Ryan at the White Swan, and we love the location on the Shamian Island. After eating lunch at Lucy's Diner we dropped off photo albums of Ryan at "A Gift From China" store, which is a non-profit store associated with the Good Rock Foundation that sponsors Chinese Orphans with special needs (they will forward the photo albums to his orphanage and foster family). We walked around the hotel, ordered carry-out Papa John's pizza, and crashed for the night.

Sean Says:
The White Swan Hotel is really cool with two swimming pools, the biggest two-room suite I've ever been in (the only one), and amazing evening light shows on buildings, boats, landscape, and bridges. We ate at Lucy's Diner and I was soooo happy to have a grilled cheese sandwich that I ordered a second one !!  Four more days to go.....!
