The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break.
-An Ancient Chinese Belief
Attached are some of the photos from the Olympic Village last night (and the China TV building under construction).
We left for the City of Nanning this morning, departing through the new Beijing Airport terminal that was just recently opened. The flight was uneventful and about 3 hours long. As we decended near the Nanning Airport, we passed a series of rock outcroppings that jut out from the level ground. The weather is the same as South Florida...hot, humid, and tropical...with a clear sky and sunshine!! They has snow here 20 years ago, and they did feel the recent earthquake. The city has a population of over 3 million, and continues to grow rapidly with wealthy business people from all over Asia.
Our hotel is in a newer section of the city across the street from a huge convention center...and a block away from a Walmart!!! O.K., we gave in and ate dinner at Pizza Hut prior to shopping at Wally Mart. To our surprise, the surrounding buildings and landscape illuminated after dark with a fantastic light show (reminiscent of Guangzhou two years ago).
We were told that Katelyn has been anxiously awaiting our arrival for the last two months (same as us). She has worn-out the family photo we sent her a few months ago keeping it with her at all times. We will finally meet her tomorrow at 3:30pm !!
Sean Says
I enjoyed flying in First Class for the first time. Nanning is the most spectacular place...just a few minutes ago a hillside lite up with a "Welcome to Nanning" message in colored lights. I LOVED the pizza at Pizza Hut!! I can't wait to see Katie tomorrow.
