Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey,
Houston, Patricia, Hannah Joy and Geordyn Belle!
The group at the airport ready to go!
April 13 - 14, 2007
After 2 years of planning together, meeting at each other homes, eating together (lots of Chinese), our group of five couples are finally leaving to get our babies.  My husband, Houston is going to get our Geordyn Belle, while our 6 year old daughter, Hannah, and I will stay home to wait and worry.  Houston left this morning at 2:00 AM to arrive at the airport at 4:00 AM to leave for Washington, DC by 6:00. The time that seemed unreal has finally become real and is happening.  Our group consists of 3 teachers that work at the same school, four of the couples going to the same church, and the fifth couple living in the same county.  What an awesome support this has been for us all.  Every couple has gone through hardships during this 2 year wait, but the thought of our babies being with us one day has kept us all going. God is making our dreams come true!

After arriving in Washington, DC, Houston and the others had a 4 hour layover.  Of course some of the girls in the group spotted a Chinese couple with a little boy and had a good time playing with him during the wait.

As you will see below the plane was huge and my husband said full and cramped.  He sat with 2 sisters one of which was going to China for her third adoption.  She especially peeked his interest because she was 54 and her husband 65.  Houston and I are both in our 50's.  The three of them spent much of the flight talking about adoption and the paperwork.
The ladies informed Houston on where to keep certain papers, which ones to have with his passport, and how to fill out others while in China. He was very excited to get such good information before arriving in China.

Talking with him after arriving in Beijing, it seemed the group all agreed the flight to be extremely long!  Thirteen hours and some could not even see the movie screen!   A total of 24 hours of travel spent.

But the 1st part of the journey had been completed and they were all finally in China, where our babies were!!!  After being picked up by the tour guide service, they arrived at the Peace Hotel to extremely comfortable rooms. Houston had a suite since we had thought about all of our family traveling.  They had dinner at a nice restaurant and started walking down the streets of Beijing.  My husband left here thinking he would not what to buy or how to shop in China.  Well, the 1st night he buys 5 silk ties for 3 dollars each.  He was so excited!  I think that has him on a roll now.  Plus the other ladies in the group are supposed to tell him things to buy, and I did make him a list!  He may have to ship everything back!

Tomorrow is site seeing.
