It’s been a long day, but we made it safely to Guangzhou. We arrived a little late, collected our luggage, and our van to the hotel was waiting for us. The drive from the airport to the hotel took about an hour, and the scenery was very interesting, so we all enjoyed the ride. Also, it’s significantly hotter and more humid here than in Zhengzhou so the vegetation is lush and the water beautiful.
After checking into the White Swan Hotel and getting settled, we dropped off laundry at Jennifer’s as planned and went to dinner at Lucy’s Bar and Grill – our favorite dining place from our last trip. It was so nice to just have a familiar meal after nine days in China.
When we left Lucy’s, we wandered down the street to the hotel looking at all things for sale. Everything is negotiable and the many merchants are looking for a quick sale. We had to resist temptation, since we want time to really look around for the specific things we had discussed purchasing prior to this trip to China. Thus, we were no easy mark for a sale this evening, although we did spot some interesting things to go back and look at when we have some free time.
On arrival back at the hotel, we checked out the swimming pools, conversed with our guides about meeting times tomorrow and what documentation was required, and just headed back to our rooms to get the little ones ready for bed since tomorrow would be a big day: Zeke’s medical checkup and then the completion of all paperwork required for Monday’s consulate appointment and the issuing of Zeke’s visa to allow him entry into the United States.
Not much else to report other than Hana’s fever seems to have broken and she’s feeling a little better, and Zeke’s upper respiratory “stuff” seems to be resolving, slowly but surely. Everyone else is healthy and doing well.
Blessings to all and continued thanks for your prayers and well-wishes. Please accept our apologies if we have not responded to your emails. For some reason we’ve not been able to receive emails for the last 3-4 days. We seem to be able to send them, but are currently still attempting to “fix” whatever the problem might be. We haven’t lost the emails so we’ll get them, however, not until we fix the problem.
