As always, we started our day at the breakfast buffet. Dallas is beginning to eat a little more each day. She definitely doesn't like bananas but is fond of french toast. We took a group tour today. Our first stop was the Six Banyan's Temple. It is a very famous Buddhist temple here in Guangzhou. It was so beautiful. We witnessed the monks blessing the babies while there. We were able to take a photo with one of the monks. The smell of the incense was overwhelming so we went back to the bus after a quick tour.
We then went to the Provincial Art Crafts Store. There are many stores selling things like embroidery, silk, tea sets, traditional clothes, etc. I didn't make it past the first store !!! Dallas got a new outfit and Chinese doll while mommy got some embroidery. I then went to a store where they sell all kinds of tea. It smelled so good in there. I purchased several kinds to take home. The weirdest thing in there was the bottle of "snake schnapps". They pickle live snakes in rice schnapps. It looked so disgusting. Even Johnny wouldn't sample it.
Last stop on the tour was the Provincial Folk Art Museum. It was the Chen Family Academy and Temple of the Qing Dynasty. The roof was highly decorated. There were many displays of Cantonese folk arts such as ivory carvings, furniture, embroidery and sculptures. I didn't make it through the tour because it was so hot and muggy and just wanted to get back on the air conditioned bus.
Later that afternoon, Johnny stayed in the room while Dallas napped. Mommy took the laundry out to be done and then went shopping again. I bought silk dresses and squeaky shoes. Looks like I will need another suitcase to bring all our goodies home in! Tomorrow we have to take the babies for a physical examination in order to enter the United States. After that, Johnny and I want to walk around the island and see more of the sights. This place is so beautiful. I definitely have lots of pictures and video to show you when we get back.
