Today we left the birthplace of our daughter. Our guide, Mary, spoke to us on the way to the airport. It was very emotional for me to say the least. Mary talked about how now that we have adopted these beautiful children that we are part of the Chinese family. She talked about the great opportunities we will be providing our daughters by providing them with a home. It was almost too much for me to bear. She finally stated she saw how emotional we were all getting and would stop! She is such a sweetheart. Her words will ring true for us forever.
The airport in Nanchang was very easily maneuverable. People stared at us wherever we would go. The flight to Guangzhou wasn't too bad. You all may remember that I have an intense fear of flying. Well, we hit some turbulence a few times and I was holding on tight to Catherine and Mark. The people that know me, can attest to how bad I wanted to adopt a child to get on this many airplanes! Catherine, as you can see from the picture, did very well on the flight. It was short. Maybe a little over an hour. I was glad when it was over as it was now one less plane I had to get on!
We went directly to the Medical Clinic for the examinations of the children. Catherine did great. For what it was worth, she passed the hearing test. They shake a toy at the child's ears. She was checked stem to stern and all was well. She weighed in at 18 lbs. and is 28 inches long. She is a little peanut. She wears 6-9 month clothing and size 2 diapers are very baggy on her tiny tush!
We are staying at the Foshan Hotel in GZ. But get this. It is 1.5 HOURS, one way, away from Shamian Island and shopping! I know the agency is trying to save us money by not staying at the White Swan. But we personally would rather have paid the extra to be closer to civilization! Mark says next time we are staying at the White Swan no matter what! Next time?????
