Well, the journey has begun! Today, Easter Sunday, we left home at about 3:45am to head to the Jacksonville International Airport for our 6:25am flight! Grandma and Grandpa Musselwhite took us and all our luggage to the airport!
We checked in and headed to get some much need coffee and Cinnabons! After a light breakfast we went to the Homeland Security checkpoint only to realize the lady at the United counter never gave us BOARDING PASSES! We were within 10 minutes of boarding when we had to run back to the counter and wait in line again! Thank God we got the passes and headed back through the checkpoint to our gate!
The flights weren't really too bad to Chicago. Our flight leaving Chicago was over 1 hour late. Mind you, we only had a 1.5 hour lay over in San Francisco until our flight for Beijing was to depart! There were several folks on our flight also headed to Beijing. Upon arrival in S.F they had a person waiting to literally run with us to catch our plane! We really thought we were going to miss it! But we made it. The flight to Beijing wasn't too bad. Their service and food was excellent the seats were horrible! No more economy for us on 12 hour flight!
We safely made it to Beijing and our guide from Harrah Family Services was waiting there to take us to our airport! We got all checked in at the Beijing International and headed for bed. James and I went down to get a cheeseburger. Several hours later I was in the bathroom sick as a dog! Thank God for Imodium and Rolaids! James never got sick so I am not sure what the problem was! Off to try and get some sleep and then touring tomorrow!
We will send pictures with our next post!
It has been an amazing journey so far, only to get much better!
Love, Mark, Donna, James and soon to be Miss Catherine Anne
