We finally have Cameron!! We received him today at the civil affairs office. He was very scared of us at first and cried a little. However, within a few hours we had him smiling and laughing. He is enjoying Austin and Emma Grace. I truly believe the
kids were the ice breaker for him. He has attached first to Jason. However, he quickly has warmed up to me and as I type this he is in bed singing to himself. He walks just as we suspected he would. He drags his leg to the side but he can get around pretty quick. He also is letting us know when he has to go to the bathroom.
We can tell that Cameron was very loved and taken good care of by his foster family. He did receive the package I sent him back in February and was shown our pictures on a regular basis to get him adjusted to leaving. He was also wearing the outfit I mailed him and had the stuffed buzz light year doll we gave him in that box. We received back the disposable camera and were told all the pictures were taken on it of his foster family and him. I can't wait to develop it. We were very lucky to get this since the orphanage normally does not give the gift boxes to the children until Gotcha day. It paid off taking a chance we would get lucky and it would get to him.
Tomorrow we officially adopt him and apply for his Chinese passport. Our guide Ellen is going to try to check out to see if she can get information on his abandonment spot. If we get the information we will go there to take some pictures of the area. Also, we get to go to the orphanage for a tour. He lived there for about three to four months before his surgery. After his surgery he went straight to his foster family. We were told he never left his foster family until being brought back to the orphanage last week to get ready for us to adopt him.
I will try and post more tomorrow along with some new pictures.
Love Donna, Jason, Gramma, Austin, Emma Grace and Cameron
