Home Update -
November 2007
SaWATdeeka…Hello!! This is Audrey and I’m going to provide our home update since I seem to keep Mommy and Daddy pretty busy these days. You know I’ll be 2 and a half years old on Nov. 27 and we’ll have been home that many months too. It’s hard to believe it’s only been that long since time seems to be flying by. Guess we’re having too much fun being a family!

I really like my home and neighborhood and tell my mommy and daddy that “I wuv do”. I also really like my dogs Norton and “Dooly” for Hayley, since that’s how I can say her name. I like going outside and going for walks with them with my stroller and sometimes I walk “Dooly” myself for exercise. I have lots of fun at the playground /park in our development. My favorite is the swing and the slide. I’m not afraid of trying anything!

I enjoy listening to all kinds of music, especially if it has a beat to it, and have some CDs that play a bunch of children’s songs like “Itsy Bitsy Spider” that I sing and dance along to. My mom knows I like music so much, she takes me to a piano class once a week for kids my age. We get to play the piano and learn about the treble and bass clef as well as different notes. I have a lot of fun and might take more classes in the future.

Besides taking a two hour nap every day, I like to play in my very own room with all my dolls and toys, while listening to music. One of my favorite things to do is play dress up with shoes, dresses, hats and bling bling jewelry that my mommy and grandma gave me. I’m quite the funny girl when it comes to playing dress-up and even put jewelry on my dolls sometimes. I also have several tote bags and must always include them when I play dress-up. Mommy wonders when I became so interested in shoes and bags, but I was born with this gift of accessorizing and mustn’t waste such talent! I guess it goes along with being so social, but I really enjoy pretending to talk on the phone. Since I used to play with the phone in the hotel phone in Bangkok, mommy and daddy decided to buy a princess play phone that rings and lights up. I love saying, “Helllooo” and pretending to have conversations with mommy and daddy.

I understand most English now and still speak Thai, but have started speaking a few words like saying “hi” to everyone I see and saying “please, thank you and bless you after sneezes.” I’ve always been able to say “bye-bye and blow kisses” and now I can say “nigh nigh.”  Due to the recent holiday, I now can also say “trick or treat”, but it sounds more like “tickle teat.” I was a ladybug for Halloween and celebrated in Washington with my second cousins. We got a lot of good candy….I’ve decided kit kats are my favorite next to tootsie rolls.

Even though I still like eating various Thai rice and noodle dishes, I’m beginning to like a little more variety of food. I love all kinds of meats, especially pork and fish, and really like fruit and yogurt. I can also ask for “juice, milk or water” since those are what I drink.

Mommy and me went on a plane ride up to Washington to visit all her family around Halloween and to celebrate her grandma, my great-grandma’s 90th birthday. All the four great-grandchildren were there to celebrate and I met most of the family too. I liked playing with my cousin and two second cousins, as well as being spoiled by Papa and Grandma. I like going on plane rides…I don’t get scared, but I sure get bored and have to crawl and explore on the floor around my seat and raise my window shade up and down a few hundred times!

I help mommy and daddy around the house with sweeping since I have my own little broom. I’m a good helper and of course talk and animate while I do everything! I’m pretty smart since I remember everything that mommy and daddy explain to me. Since I’m so curious and observant, I figure out things on my own and then surprise mommy and daddy. I like to see their reaction and I usually make them laugh, which makes me laugh since I like laughing a lot! I think I’m pretty funny.

We’re going to visit Disneyland around Thanksgiving now that we’ve transitioned at home. I’m looking forward to the teacups at the Mad Hatter ride since I love to spin around and get dizzy in our home-office chair as well standing up with my arms stretched out. Have I already told you how silly and funny I am?

Mommy and Daddy have been telling me that Christmas is coming soon. I’m not sure what that is since I didn’t have that in Thailand, but I’m sure I’ll like it! They also keep telling me “not to cry or pout” and to be “good for goodness sake”…. whatever that’s all about! Such silly talk.

It’s time for me to run so Mommy won’t catch me on the computer. I forgot to tell you that “No Touch” and “No” were a couple of the first words I learned and the computer is one of those “No Touch” items. Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and best wishes as well as following my journey from Thailand into the hearts and lives of my mommy and daddy.

With love,
Audrey Sumetha  (and mommy Heidi and daddy Mark too)
