We arrived into Bangkok at it's newest and most-amazing and modern airport that just opened last October 2006. It appears that Thailand is certainly pushing to make Bangkok a world-class destination by the airport's design and efficiency. We felt it made LAX look third-world.....pretty sad huh?! Mark and I took a picture of each other after we landed to show the "golden statues" in the background that make up some of the fabulous art that is displayed throughout the airport.
We were able to sleep on the plane, as well as eat three various meals that Thai Airways provided, which by the way, were incredibly delicious.
Our hotel, The Davis Bangkok (www.davisbangkok.net) is a great modern, boutique hotel situated next to the business district and only two miles from Audrey's Thai Red Cross location! We've included a photo of the hotel's exterior corner wing, just to provide some idea of what it looks like. They have a great cafe restaurant off the lobby that serves a breakfast buffet, which is included in the stay, as well as lunch and dinner. Friends who've traveled here before had said how great the food is in Thailand and we are starting to agree with them!
Today was spent getting unpacked and settled in our room as well as scoping out the surrounding territory. We've found two different grocery type stores within a block that will supply our bottled water supply as well as any other necessities. We're happy convenience is nearby! The people are so friendly and nice here and have already been very helpful. We decided in lieu of any sight-seeing, to just simply relax in our hotel and mentally prepare for meeting Audrey on Monday at 9:30am (which is Sunday @ 7:30 pm PST)!!!!!!
