Forget lunch at the Oriental... I'd rather nap here at the Davis Bangkok!
At the pool that's on rooftop of hotel
Well we had hoped to get some major site seeing in this weekend, however, Mark woke up Saturday with symptoms of a sinus infection and fever. We brought practically a drug store with us, due to colds often occurring when adopting overseas. We have everything for children's strength and everything for adults. So Mark starting taking medication and stayed in bed as much as possible. So we wouldn't be completely hotel room bound, we all climbed in a taxi and went to the infamous Oriental hotel that's on the river. It's a very prestigious and pricy hotel, so had to say we had visited it while we were here. We were going to possibly book a river tour from the hotel, but due to Mark feeling bad, we just decided to have lunch outside on their veranda overlooking the river. It's sad to say but we only have the photo of us in the lobby since Audrey was so overwhelmed by the many sights to see while trying to have lunch. Daddy was too drugged with cold-meds so didn't think to take photos, while mom was busy walking Audrey all around the veranda to keep her content. She had a difficult time just sitting to eat her wonton soup. She’s girl who wants to see and be where all the action is. She saw hotel guests swimming in an infinity pool next to the veranda, boats and barges out on the river and other people with children eating lunch. I'm sure she misses her friends at the Thai Red Cross and thus so amazed when seeing other children....she wants to follow them. After lunch we did some nearby shopping, but didn't last long since Daddy is not a shopper and add that he's not feeling good!
Once we got back to the hotel, we all took naps and then later went to the rooftop pool. We thought Audrey would enjoy it since she had seen it earlier in the day....wrong! Mom and Dad got in to show her how nice it is....it was amazingly warm. Then mom stayed in while Dad went to the hot tub since that was good while feeling sick. Audrey pretty much just looked at us and the other couple hotel guest swimming. We didn't want to force her, so just let her look and analyze since that's what she did. She never cried but just didn't know what to make of it. She loves her morning and evening bath since that is what she's used to, but maybe she's never been in a pool and just need to take some more time!
On Sunday, since Mark wasn't any better, we just simply stayed around our hotel. During Audrey's nap, and Daddy napping too, Mommy took the 10 minute walk to the end of the street where the Emporium mall is located to do some shopping and some much needed alone time. Audrey follows me everywhere, including the bathroom. I'm able to shower by myself, which I'm amazed, however, usually will follow me to the door of the toilet room. Even though she let's Mark tickle her and laughs with him, she only wants me to pick her up, hold her, feed her, etc. I left to the mall thinking if she woke up, she needs to learn to be comfortable with Daddy too. I laid out her milk, sweet roll and her Gerber fruit juice gummies so Mark could be ready for action when she awoke. I imagined the worse upon my return, thinking there would be a screaming, child banging at the door to be let out. Instead I returned to find her in Daddy's arms a little unsure, but of course she was fine. He said she had an episode of high-pitch screaming/crying and went to one of the corners of our room and just sat and cried. She wouldn't let him console her. It lasted for a couple minutes, but then she finally stopped.
She had enjoyed the entire bag of gummy snacks and had some water and milk. It's difficult, but we'll have to keep staging these times so she will learn that Daddy isn't that bad.....he can actually be more fun and says "yes" more often then Mom!
Pa went back to bed once I returned and Audrey and I played in the living room and checked out mom's purchases, including new light blue 'crocs'(shoes) for Audrey [they were sold out of her size in hot pink since she loves pink, but I thought the light blue were pretty too! We're hoping for an outing tomorrow at the Grand Palace!
