Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey, Steve, Patty, Caleb, Danae (daughter-in-law), Logan, Drew and Annika!
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him.
So I have also dedicated her to the Lord; as long as she liveth she is dedicated to the Lord. I Samuel 1:27 - 28
Just wanted to let everyone know that we made it to Beijing. We didn't have any problems with any of our flights. We are still in disbelief that we are actually in our daughter's homeland. We are so close to her, yet still seem so far away. We are exhausted beyond belief, the 14 1/2 hour flight was like nothing I have ever experienced before. You can try and sleep all you want and even pretend to sleep, but in reality you are not sleeping at all.
It was so neat to watch the monitor as we were traveling over Greenland, the North Pole, Russian Airspace and into China. Absolutely amazing to look out the window and realize how far from home you are.
We knew that we were headed for China the minute our first flight meal came out, spicy Chinese noodles. Then our second meal was rice with spicy sauce over our chicken. Needless to say, I have not eaten much and am a bit worried of what I will like and what I won't.
We were fortunate to have a few other Adoption Families on our flight from Washington DC to Beijing. None of them are from our agency, but it was fun comparing notes and talking adoption stuff.
We are definitely the minority in this country. We were told that in China the girls think they are beautiful if they dye their hair the brown colors that we have and put powder on their faces to make them look whiter like us.
The most amazing part for me was after going through customs and baggage we went down this long corridor, there were signs being held up by just about every person waiting for their people to come off the planes. We spotted our America World Sign and it was just a pure excitement and a relief that we made it and we were not alone in the country. Yes, I cried.
We were told to try and stay up as late as we can tonight to get our bodies used to China time. I have never in my life felt tiredness like I do now.
WOW!!! We are actually here. We are working on the pictures, so stay tuned and I will be getting some up hopefully tomorrow.
Tomorrow was to be a free day, but we are going to do our Rickshaw ride and some other sight seeing. And then our guide informed us that we are to take a nap after that.
Please just pray that we get a good nights sleep and can be rested and adjusted to the time quickly so that we can start relaxing and enjoy our days here.
It was so nice, the minute we came into our room, my dear friend from back home (Anne O'Boyle) called me and we are making arrangements to meet tomorrow. Her and her family are living in Beijing for language studies so that they can be missionaries to the Chinese in Canada. How cool is that!
