A couple of days ago, we got to visit the village that I had mentioned. It was a very poor village just about 10 minutes outside of Nanchang. When you see things like this on t.v., it is nothing like being there in person. The children were expecting us and were waiting eagerly to get their toys and candy. Honestly, I (we) had never seen poverty like this. The roads were wet and dirty, filled with goose poop. The homes were not like what we have in America. There was no running water or electricity, no furniture, except mats to sleep on and 2 tiny wooden stools to sit on. Everything was filthy, old, and barren. One little one came up to me for a treat and she had a bloody nose. It was an eerie and sad feeling. We were all gulping hard. This is a typical scene in the rural countryside of China. Our babies probably came from a place just like this. It is so sad to see what communism has done to this country. I feel like they have dehumanized the people and they are forced to give up their own flesh and blood because of governmental policies. I cannot imagine.
The Chinese people are a wonderful people with such a historical past and I admire them greatly. We are very proud that our daughter is from such a special land with good people.
In conclusion, I have come to a major realization. People are survivors and can live in any type of environment, however, when I looked around, my heart broke that the 1.1 billion Chinese people have no religious freedom. I saw a lost and hurting people, hungry for the Gospel of Christ and a peace only God can give. We are so spoiled in America. We have the chance to worship as we please and the opportunity to be anything we want in life and live anywhere we want. Truly when one has excess, there is a tendency to take things for granted. This experience has made me extremely thankful.
Thank you God for this opportunity to take care of one of your precious ones. It’s about more than saving her life, it’s about saving her soul, and giving her an opportunity for eternal life. God have mercy on and bless the people of China.
