Hello to All! Greetings from China!  We arrived in the Jiangxi Province from Hong Kong in the mid afternoon. We met our guide and traveled through a very interesting bus ride to our hotel. The countryside was so poor and desolate.  The soil is a clay red. We got into a stinky section.  We are in the city of Nanchang, which is the capital. It smells like a cross between sulfur and industry.

I am trying to make these short because I have limited use of a computer.

Enough about all of that. Now, on to Gotcha! We all took a bus ride to the civil affairs office. As we all entered the office we could hear the babies crying. We walked past them but were not allowed to stop. We all assembled in a room and they called us one by one as they called our numbers. We were JX3. All I can say is it was a whirlwind, very fast. They called our number and brought us this poor screaming baby. She was so frightened and confused. The orphanage director hugged us and gave us a gift, we tried to snap pics and then it was time to go. Anna was very serious.  We brought her back to the hotel. The first thing I did was kiss her and hug her. I told her I love her. Daddy and I told her about her family at home and then we told her about God and Jesus. I put her on the bed and waited to see what she would do. When she cried, I went right to her and picked her up. I made sure that anytime she fussed that I was there. We were building trust.

We took Anna to the hotel restaurant for dinner. She was so hungry and ate almost a whole bowl of egg custard.  With her full belly she slept from 8-6 and woke up with a look on her face like, “Wow, This wasn’t a dream.”

This is all a very humbling experience and we are grateful to God for His plan. We would have never thought of this one on our own.

All Our Love,
Jeff, Christina, and Anna
