Today is a travel day as we travel to visit Angelina's orphanage. Details about our visit are posted on the 4th. Please enjoy a message from our Pastor today:
Adopted by the Father
What an awesome journey Greg and Lisa are on! A journey to adopt a baby girl and include that daughter into their family with bonds of love. Did you see their faces when they received Angelina! Absolute love and joy. Angelina might be too young to realize it now, but soon she will know that she has become part of a family who will love, nurture and support her no matter what. Angelina isn’t just their adopted daughter—she is their daughter—she is a Sobecki, with all the rights and privileges that Liliana and Eli enjoy.
You know, the Sobecki family is a beautiful picture of God’s love for us. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is made of the same stuff that God the Father is made of. They are Father and Son. We are made of earthly stuff. We make messes. We’ve got junk in us called sin and it separates from God (and we do a pretty good job of separating ourselves from each other, too). Like Angelina, we are alienated and alone without the love of God the Father. The amazing thing, though, is that God doesn’t leave us abandoned. He put on our flesh, like a jacket, and he came to the earth to tell us and show us his love. Jesus took our junk, our sin, on himself and when he was nailed to the cross; our sin was nailed there, too. Jesus took our sin, and gave us his life and purity in exchange, so that we could be called sons and daughters of God.
Greg and Lisa traveled 13 time zones and thousands of miles to make Angelina their own. Jesus left eternity and entered into time to make us to be sons and daughters of our Father in heaven. What an incredible picture of love! Because of Jesus, we are the adopted children of God. If you are in the Father’s family, you have found joy and hope and peace that nothing can take away. If you are in the Father’s family, you are not alone or abandoned—you are found! Forever.
“In Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.” (Galatians 3:26)
