The Great Wall & Summer Palace
WOW! What a day! Our tour guide gave us an 1 ½ hours of rich history about China on our way there. Along the way we also stopped at a jade factory. We knew that it could be cold up on THE GREAT WALL, but it was snowing!!!  So coming back from our trek was rather scary.  We also went to the Summer Palace which was absolutely beautiful! We had to buy postcards because our pictures could not match what we were taking with our camera!

It’s amazing to see how Beijing has really prepared for the 2008 Olympics. I’ve never seen so much construction going on in my life. Our trip back from the Summer Palace to where we were eating dinner was only 12 miles, but it took us 3 1/2 hours to get there! Greg said that he can’t complain about Chicago traffic anymore! Matter of fact, the government made a law that while the 2008 Olympics are going on people can only drive on even/odd days. If their license plate last number is even then they can only drive on even days. Or if their license plate last number is an odd number then they can only drive on odd days. Hopefully, that will help some of the congestion problems.

Our dinner was rather challenging. I didn’t know half of the things that were being passed on the lazy susan and if I did know I couldn’t choke it down. Greg loved everything, but I only liked eating Peking Duck. Tomorrow is another adventurous day. Now it’s only 3 days until we get Angelina! We found out that it will be Monday morning and since we’re 13 hours ahead of Chicago it will be Sunday night your time.
Good Night!
