November 30, 2006
We had our last dinner together last night. We ate spicy Cantonese food but Joseph would not try the pig’s intestines or brain. The babies all sat on the traditional “red couch” at the White Swan hotel for their pictures in the tradition Chinese gowns. Angelina wore a beautiful jade dress that means good fortune. In the morning we did some shopping which is always fun because you negotiate every price. Lunch was very special because our guide surprised me with a dozen roses and a cake with candles on it for my 40th birthday. Joseph was very brave and ate donkey for lunch. Joe and Joseph also surprised me with a gorgeous pearl and jade necklace.

We went to the U.S. consultant office to take our oath for the adoption. It was our last duty for the entire process in China. We also received Angelina’s visa so she can enter the U.S. It was very exciting. We will certainly miss China very much. Everyone in China has been so nice to us. We have developed lifelong friendships.

Tomorrow we leave for the U.S. We will be traveling all day. We have to fly 3 hours north to Beijing. Then we go from Beijing to Chicago. After a very long layover we fly from Chicago to PHL. Our total flying time will be over 18 hours and that is not accounting for layovers. Wish us luck and we will see you all soon.

Good night.
Love, Coleen, Joe, Joseph and Angelina
