Dear Andrew,
Today we started off our day talking to Ingrid, Sophia and Daniel via the skype. They are so excited to see you and for us to come home. We had a long leisurely breakfast because we had a free day today. After breakfast we walked down to the local market and bought you some little snacks that are good for the stroller and the upcoming airplane ride to Guangzhou. We then walked through the streets and I found the most beautiful antique shops full of wood furniture, all sorts of wooden boxes and beautiful art work. I was in heaven and I wished there was a way to get some it home. Once we get to The White Swan, if I do see some items like this, I think I will pay to ship them. Then we walked around the corner and they had all sorts of sculptures for the yard and doorways. Very similar to the ones I purchased last summer for our yard as well. Again.....all I could do was say....ahhhhhh....and Emmie just laughed at me.
Once we returned to the hotel we just played in the room until lunch. You love climbing up on the chair to the window ledge and looking down below and at all the high rise buildings which surround the hotel. For some reason Emmie had a fruit plate delivered to her room yesterday....by accident I think, and it was sitting on a plate up on the ledge. You found the fruit plate and wanted an apple and later as I was editing pictures, I turned to find you sitting in the chair, peeling a banana and smiling away at another yummy snack. You peeled it to perfection which did not surprise me and you ate the whole thing and came to me when you were finished to get your hands wiped. When we went down to lunch you didn't eat too much.....but I could see you were close to a melt down. We came back to the room and I encouraged you to lay down for a bit. You weren't very happy about that, so I started to hum again and before I knew it you had popped your finger in your mouth and you slept for two hours. Mommy slept for one....the first nap I have had since we have been here.
We then took another walk outside. It was a lovely day. Sunny with a breeze and the smog seemed to be less today. We ventured uptown to the McDonalds there. It was so hot inside. I wanted a bottled water and I must say that it was the coldest water I have had in the last 12 days! lol I drank the whole bottle. Oh was it good. We also passed this little park where the locals could bring their birds that they have in cages and hang them from the trees for fresh air and to sing. All the birds were happily singing. I thought it was very interesting. I wish I had my camera. Just another one of those things that we don't see at home. While some of the Chinese culture is hard to understand, I find some of it so beautiful.
Once we got back to the hotel, Daddy and Emmie took you up to the room and I just sat outside on a bench for a few extra minutes. Pondering my thoughts about this journey, life and people watching. When I got back to the room you were so happy to see me. Emmie came over from her room a little bit later and oh how the fun began. Hand clapping, building towers with your blocks and then the surprise.......you started kissing all of us. Just going from one of us to the next and giving us all big smackers on the lips. I thought for sure we'd all cry.....you were so sweet and happy. We love you so much. I know that life together will be a little bit better now that you are in our lives.
Love you with all my heart.....
Love,
Mommy |
