We hope everyone had a nice 4th of July!! The 5th turned out to be a lazy day by the Regal Hotel pool. Meilyn was doing her best swimming impression of Ariel. After our day at the pool, we had a terrific dinner at one of the hotel resturants. The last of good western food until next week.
Our travel group arrived Saturday night. Jeanne, Meilyn, and I walked over to the airport with Ben. He is the Hong Kong based adoption guide on our Journey to Analei. We discovered one of the other familes from Richmond is traveling with thier 8 year old. Needless to say, Megan and Meilyn have already become best buddies. Both moms are thrilled about this. We are well ahead of the group in terms of adjusting to the time change. We had a great night's sleep, were already packed by 7:30 am this morning and headed out for a quick breakfast. Our flight to Wuhun was at 11:35. We took off in the pouring rain of Hong Kong. Brian and I were once again amazed that we had 4 beautiful days of sunshine while in HK. It is very rare for this area especially now during the rainy season.
We arrived in Wuhun greeted by Der, our guide here in China. The ride to the hotel was about one hour from the airport so Der encouraged all to use the bathroom at the airport before we headed to the hotel. Meilyn has now had her first official squatty potty experience and she was a trooper!! She gets the gold star for trying and succeeding!!! (Bethany, I know you know what I am talking about :) We stopped at the local grocery store for some water and other things for our room. We are now unpacked and settled in to our new home for the week - The HongYi Hotel. Der came by to check on us and we had a quiet moment to present him with the photo album of the 2004 Christmas in Guangzhou group. He was really touched to see all the girls. He especially remarked about the Scholly twins and how they have changed. Deb Ellis, he also mentioned that her rec'd your email and photos from when Kendall was born.
Tomorrow morning at 9:30 am we leave the hotel to go meet the babies. We are going to a government office building close by; not to the orphanage. The girls will be brought to us from the orphanage staff; not their foster parents. Analei's bag is packed for tomorrow already. They suggested we bring one toy with us for the babies. Months ago, Meilyn picked out a ladybug toy for Analei so she is proudly going to present this to her baby sister tomorrow. At the moment, she is positive about this big sister concept. It changes by the hour but I know she will settle in fine in a few days. We hope Analei will also adjust to us as well.
Well, we are off to find some dinner. Please say some prayers for us tomorrow as the Frank family becomes 4.
