Sort of a bittersweet day as we know that we have taken her away from her home, but we know in our hearts that we she will have a better life and home with us. Today was supposed to be a great day, but AnLi has gotten sick today.
We got up this morning all excited about leaving and taking that one last step to getting us all home. AnLi was wonderful, she played all morning and was just the happiest little chic in town. We ate breakfast, made some not nice sounds to the waitresses (Brian is teaching her some very bad habits), played in the park, and we went back to the hotel room, played around a bit more, and by 3:00 PM we were off to the airport for Guangzhou.
We are not quite sure when all sickness happened because she was such a trooper on the flight. We knew she was teething, and by talking with others in our group, we were convinced that all her symptoms could be caused by this.
But we knew something was wrong when one of the other little empresses tried to take a toy away from AnLi (she’s quite the fighter and doesn’t give in at all) and succeeded, AnLi let her have the toy and went back to sleep.
After two bus rides and a plane ride, we finally got to the hotel room and took her temperature, and she was running a 102 temp. Not good, so we called our physician in Omaha, and God bless them, they told us exactly what we should do. It’s now 12:30 a.m. and she’s breaking the fever. These first-time parents were freaking!
Sorry about being so short tonight. We hope that tomorrow we have some fun and exciting things to report. We can report one thing for sure, Guangzhou is much cleaner than anywhere we’ve been, and the hotel is a dream compared to the cramped quarters we’ve been living in for the past seven days.
