Today was a “free day”, with nothing official planned, but Brian wouldn’t actually call it free, since the entire day consisted of shopping! We headed off this morning for the local store to buy AnLi a stroller. We got her some hot wheels, orange and black, of course! Walking anywhere is a feat in itself. You try to dodge traffic and the locals. On our way home, we got scolded by a man for not having a sweater on AnLi, and he followed us all the way back to the hotel and would not let up.
After lunch our coordinator, Wendy, had arranged for a bus to take our group on a shopping excursion, which included riding this boat across the Gold River to another shopping district. There we were all mobbed by the locals. Most are very nice and give you the thumbs up. We had stopped to sit down for a bit, and a lady in the mob that had gathered was grabbing AnLi’s arm, trying to pick her up. We kept saying no, while we were hurriedly packing up our belongings, and got out of there. We ended up at McDonald’s for something familiar. AnLi got a balloon and had the best time hitting Kayla! Back we went on the bus to take us to the hotel, with ten babies who had missed nap time. Wendy sang a Chinese lullaby to help put the babies to sleep. It worked!
This evening we just stayed in, and AnLi was having a ball. We got lots of belly laughs out of her. She’s crawling all over the place, and wants to walk so badly. She’s tuckered us all out and we’re ready to hit the hay.
