Today we woke up with a new baby! We found out why she wouldn’t take the bottle. It’s because she only takes sippy cups. So her midnight feeding was much better for all of us. Today was the Civil Affairs and Notary day. We had to be to breakfast by 7:00 a.m. Although AnLi was happier today, I cannot leave her sight without her screaming. I had my first test of trying to get ready with a baby on my hip! Brian filled out most of the paperwork for the Civil Affairs, and then we had our Notary meeting. The Notary in China is basically the equivalent of an attorney. They asked about our plans for her education, who would be watching her when we got home, and why we wanted to adopt. And lastly, did we want to keep the baby given to us. Uh, yeah!
Not only did we pass the first test of getting ready in the morning and having to be somewhere on time, we passed our first meal in a public restaurant. We had lunch with three other couples this afternoon and their babies, and then hit the local shopping store for supplies. AnLi actually behaved quite well, no fits, but we certainly can’t leave anything in front of her, which is hard to do when you sit down in a restaurant where immediately you have three plates in front you, along with chopsticks, a soup bowl, and hot tea. She loved being outside, riding in the baby carrier.
She sticks strictly to her schedule, which has been nice. And she can sleep through anything…room service, washing dishes, lights on, TV blaring…but the biggest test was Brian’s snoring. She didn’t even notice!
Thanks again for everyone’s support. It has meant so much to us to receive all of your e-mails.
