June 24, 2006 Last day in China, for awhile and it has been busy!
Started off the day, with a tour of Hong Kong, zoomed right on up to Victoria Peak for a wonderful view of this beautiful city and its harbor. Then off to the area they call Aberdeen and a ride on a sampan taxi around what they call typhoon harbor and all the fishing and house boats where people live fulltime on their boats and a look at the various fishing boats and some wonderful yachts. We also conveniently stopped at a jewelry factory where we received a lesson in jewelry making that just happened to end up in a wonderful gift shop stocked with everything from jade to diamonds to opals to crystal, Debbie was in heaven, Ken watched the girls. Then it was off for a driving tour around repulse bay and it beach's and mansions on the hillsides with their views of the South China Sea which led us to the Stanley market as the last stop on the tour, where we said goodbye to the tour guide and found a place for lunch and some shopping among the many stalls at the market.
Very hot today low 90's and the few stalls that had air conditioning seemed to be doing the best business. As much time as we have spent in China and shopping at the various markets and stores we did not accumulate much today. Didn't stop us from looking and browsing though.
Had a wonderful visit with some friends that were in town and they had the girls all smiles with a nice gift and some attention in English and Mandarin.
Now its get two girls in the shower and final packing and an early ride to the airport for 24 hours of traveling home.
We have vowed to return again someday and more time in Hong Kong will be on the agenda as well.
Thanks to all who have followed our journey and those who have emailed us.
Love to our family and friends. See you soon.
