Not too much to post today, we took it pretty easy. Hotel has a very nice breakfast buffet which we enjoyed first thing. We then took a walk around the neighborhood. We discovered that while we are in a very nice hotel, we are pretty isolated from shopping and other restaurants. There is a park nearby and a museum, which we did not visit yet. Also a small grocery store across the street, which was a life saver for water and cokes as the hotel amenities are quite pricey. The street the runs in front of the hotel is typical Nanjing - a beautiful tree lined boulevard. The trees are large and provide lots of shade. It is really beautiful! It felt wonderful to walk and just experience China again, the sights, sounds and smells. It felt familiar and comfortable and really good to be back. We love watching the people, and of course the bikes. It still amazes me what can be carried on the back of a bike!! We got a lot of stares from people, but no questions. I don't think adoptive families are as much of an oddity as they were in 98 when we adopted Emily. We spent a couple of hours at the hotel pool which is really beautiful. We relaxed later and watched Cheaper by the Dozen on HBO and then went to dinner. The dinner buffet was pricey and just OK, not too much for Emily. Thanks goodness for rice and noodles. We are definitely going to research other places to eat today. There was a wedding in the hotel last night and we enjoyed watching the bride and groom greet their guests and receive their red envelopes!
Tomorrow is the big day. The fact that I am typing this at 2am China time tells you I am too excited to sleep!! Promise I will have pictures tomorrow!! Please keep us in your prayers, especially Amy that she will adjust well and understand how much we love her already!!
