~ Our Story ~
Our story is rather unique. We adopted our first daughter, Emily in July, 1998. We went back to China for a homeland tour in June, 2005 . We started in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province which is Emily's orphanage too. Emily had expressed to us her desire to meet children her own age, so we asked to have that arranged. When we got to the orphanage they had 3 little girls waiting to meet us, ages 5, 6 and 9. Emily and the girls spent about 30 minutes together . We took pictures and the girls wrote their names for each other. They were all adorable. When we left, Emily began to literally beg us to adopt the 6 year old. All I knew about her was her name and age. My husband and I talked about it and decided to see what we could find out, but made no promises to Emily.
When we got home I emailed the agency I used for Emily and told them the story. It just so happened that the agency director was going to China in August and one of his stops was Nanjing. While there he found out a lot more information about her and sent it to me.
Finally, in September, his facilitator in China was able to find out that Amy's file had been sent to Faith International. I called Faith and her file was sitting right in front of the lady I spoke with. Faith International received it with their group of June, 2005 Waiting Children. They were getting ready to send it back. They should have sent it back sooner but a family had shown interest, then changed their minds. I told Faith that was because she was meant to be OUR daughter.
We believe our journey to Amy is a miracle and that God intended her to be part of our family. We can not wait to bring her home!
