We started the day off with a group meeting to discuss options for traveling to Guangzhou. The airport had reopened. LiPing and Bruce thought that the roads would be clearer for us to get to the airport. We left our hotel at 2:30 pm. We arrived at the airport at 4pm. It was very slow going. The roads were very icy. To help cars with traction they put straw mats on the road. It was just amazing to see beyond our little block around the hotel. Everything was covered with a thick layer of ice. Our flight was scheduled for 6pm. Our group just sat on the floor of the airport waiting. There were people everywhere. Bruce and LiPing were here and there checking on things. Amelia did so well while we waited. Vaughn played patty cake with her. After waiting for 2 hours we were told that the planes coming in could not land and had to turn around. We were not going to be able to fly. LiPing and Bruce had another group meeting with us. They gave us our options. We could rent a bus, try to get a train, or wait for the airport to open. They said the bus would take around 20 hours or the train would be 12 hours. We all opted for the train option. Bruce and LiPing went to work. They had to hire another bus to come pick us back up at the airport. Then they had to find another hotel for us to stay at because our hotel was full. They also started working on getting our train tickets. We are a group of 8 babies and 21 adults. That is a big group to try and move from one place to another. The bus finally came and we loaded everything and everyone back on and off we went to a different hotel. We arrived at our new hotel. It was ok but, not as nice as our last hotel. But, we were very thankful that we had a bed and warmth.
