Our adventure has begun. So far it could probably be called more of a misadventure. Either way it certainly has been memorable. Our flight to San Francisco was 3 hours late due to the weather and we missed our connection(by 5 minutes), so we had to stay overnight there and were rerouted through Vancouver, Canada where we caught an Air Canada flight to Beijing. That put us 20 hours behind on our original schedule. We missed the Beijing Zoo which was on the itinerary for that day.
Our luggage was lost in the shuffle and as a result we have been unable to post until now to the website. We will try to catch up in the next few days. Our hotel is very nice, but we did have to go and buy a few shirts and some underwear to get us by.
Beijing is a fascinating city. An incredible amount of people and...... cars, bicycles, mo-peds, buses and pedestrians vying for space. The bikes are right out on the streets with the cars and it seems to be total mayhem. When we are not on our tour bus though we feel incredibly safe. The people here are very nice and the food so far has been awesome.
Well at least you know now that we made it to China. I will update you on our further adventures and I apologize about leaving you hanging. I think it will get much better when we get our baggage and then we can get some pictures to you. We have been taking a lot of them.
