March 26, 2007 Adoption Day... We officially became the parents of Alexis Marie
Today is Adoption Day and our morning was filled of waiting and processing paper work so Alexis Marie could officially become our daughter. We returned to the CAB office with the rest of the new families who received their daughters yesterday. The couples that we met yesterday were from all over the world (USA, England, Australia, Spain, etc) and it’s amazing to see how popular this program has become.
Since we were the only couple through our agency; the process actually went much quicker than those in groups of 5 or more. First we had to sign a lot of paper work which took about 10 minutes and the rest of the time you wait for your interview with a local official. From there, we traveled to the notary office to make the paperwork official. However, there was a small glitch with our paper work and we had to return to the CAB office to re-do a document. FYI… when they ask you if a document is accurate (spelling, etc.) they want to make sure that the paperwork reads the same as your passport. A simple mistake and one we found out tonight happened to several other couples today. Alexis was a trooper throughout and survived all the cab rides and running through the rain and even managed to get a cat nap in there.
With the rainy weather we returned to the room for a much needed rest for all three of us. While we were bragging about Alexis being so good, going to sleep wasn’t as easy as we expected. She definitely made up for not crying all day by spending a good hour plus crying herself to sleep. Unfortunately, we are encountering the same thing tonight so we hope to have this issues managed before we come home. Can’t imagine what the plane ride home will be if we don’t.
Tonight we were invited to join another couple and others in their group to celebrate their son’s fourth birthday party at Pizza Hut. While we are at a disadvantage with the language barrier, we had no problem getting directions to Pizza Hut. We have been fortunate to have several families include us in their activities and hope to join them later this week to see the county where Alexis was born.
The next couple of days we have free time to explore the city and country until we complete our paper work on Thursday. We are hoping for some good weather so we don’t have to sit in the room more than we have to.
Just a note, we did our best to just have Alexis in the pics today, seeing as she is the princess!
Love always!
