Today is our last day in China. We are both happy to be returning home tomorrow. Though we have lots of wonderful memories and stories to tell, we miss home.
Alexis was up at 6:00am, her usual time and ready to start the day. We got dressed and headed down stairs to have breakfast with some friends in our group. This kid can still pack away some food. She ate a half a bowl of oatmeal, ½ cup of scrambled eggs, 2 slices of watermelon and the list goes on… She has a little Buddha belly now and I tell her she looks like her daddy. We walked around Guangzhou for a few hours and did some more shopping. In one shop, we were introduced to the shop cat that had Chinese tattoos on his ears for identify. I showed Alexis a two-month old kitten and she screamed and shook with fear.
Apparently, her foster mother did not have pets. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy adjustment for her when we get home and she is once again introduced to our cat and two dogs. This should be interesting. She seems to like the large Koi fish in the hotel pond.
Her attitude was a little better today. She managed to sleep more yesterday, which seemed to have helped. I think she’s just exhausted and overwhelmed by all the new changes. At least this is the last change she will have to make for a very long time. We can’t wait to get her home and get her settled into a more stable routine.
We leave tomorrow at 5:40am. Our bags have to be outside our hotel room door at 5:00am sharp, in order to be transferred to the bus on time for departure.
With everything that needs to be done. This is the last journal I will be posting. Talk to everyone after we return home. Pray that we have a smooth flight.
